Description
The windy season in the Costa Esmeralda starts in October and ends In June. The coastline is straight and ideal for quick or MEGA downwinders! The sea is hazardless, clean and free of traffic with waves between 0.5 and 1.5 metres. The water temp is warm from March through to November. The tropical climate has warm weather all year round. The only months of the year that the air temp drops slightly lower than 20C are Dec, Jan and Feb.
At the southern end of the Costa Esmeralda (10mins drive), there is a large river estuary with flat water. Within a 2 hour drive radius there are a vast number of other ideal beach, lagoon and estuary spots for all levels of kiters.
The sea is green (hence the name, Emerald Coast), the sand is light grey, the beaches are empty, accomodation affordable and food excellent!

How to go there
By Plane:
Fly to (in order of closeness to the Costa Esmeralda) Poza Rica, Veracruz, Mexico City.
Note: Elemental Kite Club offers airport an pick-up service for Poza Rica and Veracruz International Airport.
Bus: Mexico´s excellent first class bus company, ADO, offers frequent services to the Costa Esmeralda and its neighbouring towns (in order of closeness, Costa Esmeralda, Naulta, San Rafael, Guiterrez Zamora, Martinez de la Torre). Visit Ticketbus in english and español for terminals and times.

Nightlife
Visit the incredible mangrove system that can be explored by a guided kayak tour.
Other activites include: sea kayaking, quadbiking, jet skiing, water skiing, fishing, bodyboarding, skimboarding and end the day with a massage in a beach spa.
30 mins drive: Visit the Centre of the Investigation and Preservation of the Marine Turtle and get the chance to release a baby turtle. Season from May to Sept.

The Costa Esmeralda isn´t famous for its nightlife, more for its starry nights of bonfires by the sea. However, there are bars and nightclubs in the local surrounding towns.
